“The Best Berry: Strawberry”
By: Cynthia Pando
You are the best berry.
You are better than food.
I would for you travel on a ferry.
Your flesh is so red
You are better than all berries because you are not blue.
If you were gone I would rather be dead.
You are so easy to chew.
The sweet juice in you is very sticky
Sometimes you are a bit sour
But you will never make me feel icky.
You are the best in any hour.
"DIrty Shoe" -- Thomas Cox
Warn away from years of walking
Warn away from years of running
Warn away from years going
And coming
The smelliest thing I own
The most vital thing I wear
They come and go over the years
Replaced with the cleaner newer ones
And become the warn out pair
They come in all shapes and sizes
They come in all colors and brands
So when I ruined these pair
I knew there were more out there
But something was different
Something was wrong
This smelly pair was special
Years of walking
Years of running
And years of walking in the mud
Left these shoes full of memories
Memories I cherish
Memories of care
Nobody will listen
Everyone cares
I will not through away this pair
No matter how bad they smell
I don’t care that they have lost all their traction
I don’t care that they’re falling apart
Because this pair won’t ever leave me
Until I saw that other pair sitting in the window sill
Full of color and vib
Imagining how good they will look
I dicided to put my feet inside
Wow the comfert
Wow the grip
Wow it is time to get a new pair quick
“Rabbit" by Michelle Seo Dear little white rabbit,
Sitting alone on my bed,
I would lie down and put my head
On you out of habit.
You contain so many memories
That I hold dear,
They still remain perfect and clear
As if they had been polished by emery.
I miss those golden days
When life was perfect;
When everything just clicked
Living in simple ways.
Dear rabbit, how I wish
To go back to how it was,
The days when I believed in Santa Claus
The days that I used to relish.
Hershey Bar
Something that is rich and pure.
It sits on against a wall surrounded by others.
All waiting for the same thing.
It then stares you down,
Telling you “Take me.”
You say “no” at first but it drags you in.
Soon enough, you’re sinking your teeth into
The luscious and ever-known Hershey Bar.
